Practice Match T20 WC: Bangladesh vs. Scotland

After the easy victory in the practice match against Holland, Bangladesh Cricket Team has faced Scotland today. This is the 3rd practice match played by the tigers before the beginning of the Twenty20 World Cup 2009. The tigers will play 2 more practice matches.

Toss: Bangladesh
Scotland: 141/7 in 20 overs
Bangladesh: 142/4 in 18.4 overs
Result: Bangladesh won by 6 wickets

Scotland's Inning: Like the previous match, speedster Rubel Hossain was fantastic with the ball in hand today. He took 5 wickets giving away just 16 runs. Mahmudullah Riad (29 runs) and Mashrafe Mortaza (21 runs) took one wicket each. Even though GM Hamilton (45 in 41) and NFI McCullum (50 in 37) batted strongly, rest of them just couldn't manage to bat very well.

Fall of wickets: 1-2 (Watts, 0.3 ov), 2-31 (Watson, 4.4 ov), 3-31 (Smith, 5.5 ov), 4-85 (Hamilton, 13.1 ov), 5-125 (McCallum, 17.4 ov), 6-125 (Berrington, 17.5 ov), 7-139 (Blain, 19.4 ov).

Bangladesh's inning: Suhrawardi Shuvo (1 in 7) and Tamim Iqbal (33 in 21) came to open the inning for Bangladesh. But Shuvo soon got out when the team total was 23. Next the star of the previous match Tiger Captain Mohammad Ashraful (3 in 7) also got out without leaving much impression on the game. Apart from them evryone batted quite well. Shakib (36 in 29), Riad (46* in 35), Raqibul Hasan (15* in 14) helped Bangladesh to achieve this victory agaisnt Scotland. On behalf of Scotland Drummond, Nel, Stander and Watson took one wicket each.

Fall of wickets: 1-23 (Suhrawadi Shuvo, 2.5 ov), 2-41 (Mohammad Ashraful, 5.3 ov), 3-44 (Tamim Iqbal, 6.2 ov), 4-108 (Shakib Al Hasan, 14.2 ov).

The next practice match of Bangladesh is against Australia.

This was the 2nd victory achieved by Bangladesh in 3 practice matches. The only practice match which they lost was against New Zealand, but no hard feelings for that, as the black caps had to struggle to achieve the victory. Bangladesh Cricket Team will play 2 more warm up matches before the actual tournament begins. The performance of Mahmudullah Riad, both with the bat and the ball, is something other teams should be aware of.

All the best.

After 3 quick wickets (Tamim 3, Junaed 17, Shakib 4) the tigers were in a tricky situation. But Tiger Captain Mohammad Ashraful and Mahmudullah Riad came to the rescue by playing a wonderful innings. Rubel Hossain was magical with the ball in his hand. He took 4 wickets. Mashrafe and Riad took 2 wickets each. Razzak contributed by taking a wicket.

Today Bangladesh will be playing a practice match against Scotland. (Fixture)

As a fan of Tiger Cricket, it makes me really happy to see that Bangladesh cricket team is performing well. If they are able to play like this in the Twenty20 World Cup 2009, who knows, they might achieve much more than they aimed for.

Improvements needed based on this match:
1. Top order batsmen have to perform better.
